Halloween

Hi Parents and students, The kids are very excited for halloween tomorrow (Many discussions about costumes and where to find the best candy). Costumes are able to be worn in the afternoon as long as they don't include pretend weapons or masks that completely cover the face. In the morning costumes are not to be worn! We have been writing spooky stories in class and will be sharing them tomorrow, so make sure you don't forget to bring it in if you're still adding finishing touches to it. I mentioned to the students that they were able to bring in a healthy-ish snack to share with the class while we listen to the stories in the afternoon if they would like to.

War on waste

Image
In class we continue to learn about all the issues facing us that have to do with "Waste in our world" It's great to see so many students engaged and becoming passionate about a very important issue that faces us all... OUR TRASH Today on our walk over to the wildflower pond playground, I challenged the students to see how much waste (Plastic in particular) they could see to highlight the issues we are talking about in class. I was amazed with the response as I saw as most of our students demonstrating leadership qualities by beginning to pick up the waste that they were seeing. This continued, without instruction, a several students began to take part in a playground clean-up. I decided to bring the waste back to our class and see how much there was in such a short space and what particular materials these where made out of. This is what we discovered... As you can see the students were not please with their findings and discovered that the majority of this waste...

Remembrance Day

Hello Parents and greater Copperfield Community, Our grade 4 students are busy planning this year’s assembly for Remembrance Day that will take place on November 9th around 10:30 am.  We are preparing some heartfelt and special tributes to the brave Canadians who are serving or who have served our wonderful country in the armed forces. We are wondering if you or a relative, who have been impacted by conflicts (World War One, Two, or the many other conflicts in the world) would be willing to share your experiences about war with our school during the assembly?   In the past we have had Veterans of the Korean War and Afghanistan share memories and photos so that our young learners better understand Remembrance Day and honor our heroes.  We are looking for a person to speak, share during our Assembly for about 10 minutes (more or less).  If you know someone (Grandfather, Grandmother, parents, siblings, other relatives, neighbour) or you might be interested please c...

Clay for kids

We have another in school event coming up on November 8 clay for kids. We will be using our knowledge of Alberta's Natural regions to create an artistic representation of this province.  There are helpful links on the resource page to help prepare and refresh their knowledge, start conversations and gain ideas. We also require some volunteers to assist in the morning of November 8th.
