Update

Hello everyone. I hope you are all safe and well.
Currently we have not been give any information to give you but I will keep you informed as soon as I am informed.

I am currently at school in an empty classroom. Thanks for listening to the news and staying at home for now.  Until we know more, here are some things you can do to keep learning:

-read a real book to give your eyes a rest from screens
-play a board game, card games with family
-Build something if you have materials
-Plan and begin thinking about your arcade game using recycled materials
-if you are healthy get outside and enjoy some fresh air with your family or at a safe distance
-play math card games (unicorn, you can print off a grid paper and play ARRAY CAPTURE)

-EPIC BOOKS will be available during the day
-RAZ KIDS.
-Prodigy

In class we were already working on area and perimeter and were going to be starting on devision and subtraction this week and after spring break, so you might as well research those and try practicing these skills as you will need them in grade 5! If you have access to a printer go onto https://www.coloringsquared.com/free-coloring-pages-math-for-kids/math-fact-coloring-pages/ and pick out a few pixel art division and subtraction sheets to practice basic facts.

Math: AREA -
Length x width = Area (remember to try to multiply to figure out the area)

Can you 'map' out your room and figure out the area (using steps) for your room, bed, dresser, closet and any other bigger furniture?  You can just use a piece of blank or lined paper.  If you want, it could be your DREAM ROOM!  You could draw up a bird's eye view of your room.  Here is an example:

Science:
Read some SIMPLE MACHINE books on EPIC BOOKS to learn more!  There are lots.  Then with supervision, make a simple CARDBOARD ARCADE game that includes at least 2 simple machines.  We were going to have a building challenge this week of using a paper towel tube (wrapping paper tube), string, and a drink container filled with water to make a PULLEY!  Can you do it?  If so, take a photo and email it to me!  Have fun learning and creating.

As the weather begins to improve start taking notice of the plant life outdoors and how spring changes the scenery outside. If possible help out in your garden and plant some seeds to see how they grow.
