Google classroom

Image
Good evening parents and students I am currently working hard to learn how google classroom works in order to try get you all involved for a Friday start up lesson. Thank you to everyone that I was able to get in contact with via phone and email. The next week will be a steep learning curve and we will take it slow to make sure we all understand the new process of learning. I am however confident we will be able to achieve a lot after looking at the program and what we should be able to achieve. We will be able to have classroom online lessons where I will be able to help students with their work as well as give instruction. We have be lucky enough to have had experiences this year using google docs and google slides, this will make the transition much easier as we will be able to use these programs for our work. I was going to upload a video read aloud today however due to copyright I will wait until Friday using google meet for our first face to face meeting as a class. Thank y...

Math challenge

There are 78 people going on a field trip to the zoo. They need to drive in cars to get there.  If each car holds 6 people, how many cars are needed to take all the visitors to the zoo? 1. Use numbers to represent your thinking. (Show the equation and workings) 2. Words to represent your thinking. (Write your answer in sentence form) 3. Pictures and/or symbols to represent your thinking. (Draw a visual representation of this problem) If possible take a photo of your work and email it to me.

Grade 4 farewell

As you know the school year is flying by and we are nearly at March break already. After the break time will fly by as we prepare to send your children off to a new school next year. Grade 4 Families!  It is that time of year to start thinking about saying farewell!  Our Farewell is the morning of Friday, June 19th. We would like to invite any interested guardians to join a Grade 4 Farewell Committee.  As part of this committee you would help plan the theme, events, decorations, food, music for their year end celebration, etc.  The time commitment is fairly light until closer to the date.  Historically the grade 4 teachers have met with the committee about once a month.  Please start thinking about this. The first Grade Four Committee Meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 14th at 3:15pm in room 171 (Mrs. Duha’s room).  Thanks Grade 4 Team!!! This farewell will no take place without the support of volunteers. If you are available t...

Update

Hello everyone, Sorry for the absence recently, I had to go home to assist with family matters in Australia. The students were left in very good hand with Mrs Samphire. We are coming closer to the March break and we have much to learn before the end of the year. Students are currently learning about Area and perimeter and will be moving on to division ASAP. We have been researching and learning about the many regions of Alberta and the different characteristics they each have allowing student to write an I survived story based on one of these regions. We are continuing to learn about simple machines in science and are beginning to make plans for our upcoming BMO entrepreneurial challenge where we will be using our scientific learning to create arcade games with recycled materials incorporating multiple simple machines. We have began using equipment in gymnastics working on balance, locomotion and controlled landings. I also heard that the students really liked the Auskick program that...
