Reports out tomorrow No school on Friday

Hi parents just a reminder that school report will be handed out at 3:20 tomorrow and there will be no school on Friday.  Students have been working hard in class and have fit back into the school routine with some positive learning evident in the room. We have been doing some fun experiments with light and shadows that you should ask about as well a quizzing them on multiplication facts. We will be starting on division soon!  We are taking part in the BMO entrepreneurial challenge again this year which will help us learn about simple machines, business and leadership skills, plants and growth and much more. Our class will be trying to raise funds for an unknown charity (We vote tomorrow) by creating and selling as many plants as possible. To do this we would love your help and support. If you have or know anyone with top soil, plant pots, seeds or plants we could collect cuttings from that would help us greatly, and allow the students to further enrich their learning....
Welcome back Everyone! I hope everyone had a great break and had time off to spend together. We are refreshed and back in full swing again; learning about light and shadow, multiplication and revising our regions of Alberta knowledge. The students and I have been on a roll in gym loving the Alien inline skating unit with some great skills on display and students skating rings around their (beginner skater) teacher.  To extend the knowledge of your child get them to explore and then explain the following resources we have been exploring in class. GLENBOW BLACKFOOT Alberta regions Light and shadow

Social studies resource

In class we currently have a Museo kit (Artifacts) from the Glenbow museum. We are looking at the lives of our first nation peoples who lived in Alberta. We are discovering the different ways they were able to use their environment and live off the land for thousands of years. We are beginning to see the impact of the fur trade and early settlement and how that impacted the blackfoot way of life. Please encourage your child to tell you about what they know and even better deepen their understanding by checking out this great website:  GLENBOW BLACKFOOT

Alien Inline

Alien inline skating will be back at Copperfield in January.  We hope all students can enjoy this experience (safely in our gym). To do this however a waiver must be returned to me to participate. (Sorry)  Click here for waiver

Message from school

As grade four parents I am sure you have a set routine already however I have been asked to share this information with you anyway. Due to legality; Tobogganing, tubing, crazy carpet, bobsledding and sledding are prohibited on CBE Property. Also, supervision begins at 8:05am and parents do not need to remain with their children until the bell rings.  Supervisors will remain with students. We have had some great discussions in class and have been showing improved focus and effort this past week, hopefully we can continue this for the rest of the year. We are currently working on an in depth assignment to finish off our waste in out world unit, We are studying the Niitsitapi museo kit in social studies, Beginning multiplication in math as well as learning about perimeter and area. We have also just began dance in gym.

Chicken Pox

Image
Currently at school we have had a case of the Varicella virus AKA the Chicken Pox. As you may be aware this is a highly contagious virus. Please be on the lookout for some of the common symptoms: Hopefully this image helps to inform you on what to look for and how to handle the situation should your child contract the virus.
